Mothers of the Greater Grand Rapids Chapter,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 program year! As a charter member, I delighted to serve during this term as we celebrate our chapter’s 10 year anniversary. In honor of this milestone, we will be going “back to basics,” remembering what brought us all together, strengthening our understanding of what excellence means in our organization, and dedicating ourselves once again to our foundation - becoming the premier family organization for African Americans in Greater Grand Rapids.
Your commitment to this organization and to each other is an inspiration that will lift up not only our families and children, but those across the community. You have shown that whatever we can achieve in our silos is amplified mightily when we work together. As we approach the upcoming year, I ask that you keep our national theme, “The Power to Make a Difference, We Can Do More,” at the forefront of your work. We mothers know a lot about going and above and doing more. Each and every one us does whatever it takes every day to give our children the best opportunity for success. One of the greatest gifts that we can give to our community to is to share our resources and passion to do whatever it takes to provide opportunities for all children and families. As stated so eloquently by our immediate past chapter president, Shannon Wilson, “we have been charged with nurturing future African American leaders, and must ensure that generations to come have greater opportunities than those afforded to us.”
As your president, I am at your service for the next year, and will work to exemplify all that I ask of you – diligence, dedication, and delivery of excellence programming. Along the way, I hope that we can have fun and get to know each other better. We are, after all, a village bound together by the values that led us here. Let us take each challenge that we face serve as opportunity to take our organization to the next level and serve as a standard of excellence.
I have come to love and appreciate the Greater Grand Rapids chapter more than I can express, and I consider and honor and a privilege to serve alongside you. Thank you for your faith in me. I will give to you the best of me for the next year.
Long Live Jack and Jill!
Yours in Service,
Tracey W. Brame, President
