Mothers of the Greater Grand Rapids Chapter,
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to our 2018-2019 year of programming. I look forward to working with you to build upon the foundation provided by our charter mothers- becoming the premier family organization for African Americans in Greater Grand Rapids. I can assure you that your commitment to this organization and the lives of children across our community is well worth the investment. As we approach the upcoming year, I ask that you keep our national theme, “The power to make a difference, we can do more”, at the forefront of your work. We, as mothers, have a unique ability to change trajectories, assisting our children and the children in our community, to reach their God given capability. We have been charged with nurturing future African American leaders, and must ensure that generations to come have greater opportunities than those afforded to us.
As your president, I will work tirelessly to streamline operations, improve member satisfaction, and ensure a technologically savvy chapter that positively contributes to the betterment of our community. Our road together will most certainly be filled with successes, and yet, challenges are also bound to factor in. As we
set our sights on a historic year, I ask that you keep in mind the words of the great Nelson Mandela “It always seems impossible, until it’s done”. We will move mountains together! We will laugh, we will cry, and we will raise our children- as a village.
I cannot imagine another group of women that I would rather serve alongside. I consider it an honor and a pleasure to be selected to serve you and look forward to a momentous year!
Long Live Jack and Jill!
Yours in Service,
Shannon L. Wilson, President
Greater Grand Rapids Chapter
Jack and Jill of America Inc.
